The capital city is focused right now on reaching an agreement on the next bill to address the health and economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Should legislation get enacted, it is expected to be the last COVID bill before the election. Congressional Democrats and the White House have been negotiating since last weekend, but still seem to be far apart in the overall amount to spend, as well as some major substantive issues. In other news, a court has stopped the “public charge” rule from being implemented during the public health emergency.
