In December 2025, a bi-partisan group of U.S. House Representatives signed a discharge petition to force a vote on extension of the Affordable Care Act Enhanced Advanced Premium Tax Credits (e-APTCs). Following the Winter Recess, the U.S. House of Representatives returned to vote on a three-year extension of the e-APTCs.
The vote passed through the House of Representatives on January 8 with a vote of 230 to 196. 17 Republicans joined all democrats to revive the e-APTCs which expired at the end of 2025. The bill now moves to the Senate where it is unlikely to pass. The Senate rejected a similar three-year extension of the e-APTCs in December 2025. Instead, a bi-partisan group of Senators are negotiating a different version of the e-APTCs extension. A vote is likely to happen at the end of January, but no date has been confirmed.
