Congress is finishing up its two-week recess after successfully adopting the budget resolution which contained President Donald Trump’s legislative priorities on tax, border, energy, and more. The resolution still requires the Energy and Commerce committee (E&C) to cut $880 billion in costs under its jurisdiction. Committees have until Friday, May 9 to create their reconciliation bills. Republicans are targeting Memorial day for passing the full reconciliation bill with first committee markups expected the week of April 28. However, the timing of markups for E&C is currently unknown due to discussion on tax policy and spending cuts. Dates for all House committees are listed in the table below with their budget instructions.
