Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Process – June Update

The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) budget process is currently happening. There are 12 categories of appropriation bills that have to be created for votes on in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Those bill categories include:

  • Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies (AG-FDA)
  • Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS)
  • Defense
  • Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies
  • Financial Services and General Government (FSGG)
  • Homeland Security
  • Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
  • Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS)
  • Legislative Branch
  • Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilCon-VA)
  • National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs
  • Transportation, Housing, Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD)

The House is expected to have all of its bills by June 5. The Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) bill, with just high-level numbers, was released on June 4. A subcommittee hearing is expected on June 5 at 8:00am EDT. Family Voices will provide updates once further details are released. The full appropriations committee, which votes on the entire appropriations bill package, is expected to hold their vote on June 9.

The Senate is expected to hold appropriations bill markups every Thursday in June. Their stated goal is to have a hearing of the full package by July.
