Goals and Accomplishments
The Maryland team had a goal to improve family engagement in Maryland by first defining the spectrum of family “engagement”, then developing an optimal family engagement framework that is inclusive of all Maryland stakeholders, and communicating or promoting the adoption the framework, as measured by adoption of the framework by one or more stakeholders.
The Maryland state team has built relationships and is working on their goals. They are continuing to work through their PDSA cycle.
The Family to Family Health Information Center in Florida is Parents’ Place of Maryland.
The team is pleased with:
-
The collaborative participation and engagement they maintained over time
-
How the relationships they developed in the FELSC Learning Col have opened doors to other projects and opportunities
-
The major components of the family engagement “definition” (spectrum) of their project
-
The content for the family engagement guide
The team hopes to:
-
Begin stakeholder feedback
-
Begin PDSA cycles
-
Develop a plan for where the guide will be made available
-
Develop launch and a promotion plan
Advice for future cohorts:
-
Get a committed group dedicated to the project before you are accepted to the Learning Collaborative.
-
Consider how you will recruit young adults or youth voices and start this recruitment as soon as possible.
-
Project size should be considered carefully based on the time the entire group is willing and able to invest in the project.
-
Opt for a smaller project if you plan to meet only monthly with limited homework.
-
If you do a larger project, plan on meeting more frequently, and set expectations of work outside of meetings.
