On June 27, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) released guidance to states through State Release #185, titled State Medicaid Coverage of Drugs Approved by the FDA under Accelerated Approval Pathway. The release specifies that a drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under its “accelerated approval” pathway, must be covered by state Medicaid programs.
