Updated Advocate’s Guide to MAGI
The National Health Law Program has released an updated version of The Advocate’s Guide to MAGI (Modified Adjusted Gross Income) methodologies used to determine financial eligibility for multiple insurance programs, including most Medicaid categories, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Premium Tax Credits and Cost Sharing Reductions for health plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplaces.

Given the possibility of judicial or legislative action that could modify the consumer protections provided by the ACA, the Kaiser Family Foundation has developed a map showing the number of people with pre-existing conditions throughout the country. The Foundation’s researchers estimated how many people could be ineligible for individual market insurance under pre-ACA practices if they were to ever lose their current coverage.
