Upcoming Policy and Health Events List – April 2025

April 28, 2025 @ 1pm ET – Register for Investing in Population Health: Groundbreaking Innovation from Covered California. Join Manatt Health and Covered California for an interactive webinar to learn more about the newly launched Population Health Investments (PopHI) program. The program uses funds that Covered California has recouped through its health-plan accountability program, the Quality Transformation Initiative, aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing disparities for enrollees. The three PopHIs launched in 2025 include the:

• Grocery Support Program, designed to help enrollees with chronic health conditions and financial challenges access nutritious food to improve food security and health outcomes
• Child Savings Account Program, which aims to improve well-child visits and childhood immunization rates for children under two while helping families invest in their child’s future
• Targeted investments in the Equity and Practice Transformation infrastructure, developed by the Department of Health Care Services, that aim to accelerate population-health management capabilities in primary care practices serving both Covered California and Medi-Cal enrollees

This webinar will dive into how Medicaid supports the child care workforce and, in turn, the early developmental stages of the millions of young children in their care. Panelists will discuss the already heavy strains on the child care system, the particular impact of Medicaid expansion, and how a healthy and supported workforce uplifts young children and families.

May 2, 2025 @ 12pm ET – Learn more and register for Boosting Health through Economic Policy: Health Systems’ Role in Improving the Economic Wellbeing of Communities. This seminar, the third in the Boosting Health Through Economic Policy series, will consider the role of anchor institutions (i.e. hospitals and health care systems) in raising the economic status of their communities.

May 6, 2025 @ 2pm ET – Register for the Illinois Family Recovery Plans Implementation Task Force Act: Understanding the Steps to Policy Reform Using a Coalition Approach. This webinar will explore this innovative policy aimed at addressing the substance use treatment needs of infants born with prenatal substance exposure and their caregivers, and offer strategies for other states to develop similar policies.

June 28 – July 2 – Learn more and register for the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention 65th Annual Meeting, this annual event will be held in Denver Colorado. The theme of the meeting is “Researching New Heights in Birth Defects Research: Fundamentals to Cutting-Edge Research” and will cover basic, epidemiologic, and clinical research and the application of new technologies to the understanding and prevention of birth defects, and postnatal/functional effects.

July 8 – 10 – Learn more and register for the 2025 Training Institutes: Building a World Where Young People Thrive. Join a national gathering of experts and leaders working at the federal, state, and local levels to transform public systems, programs, and services for children, youth, young adults, and their families. The conference will take place at the Gaylor National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

The PSI Annual PSI Conference provides an opportunity to meet, learn together and share ideas with others involved in the field of Perinatal Mental Health.  The 2025 Conference is scheduled July 9-13, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Pre-conference training will be held July 9-10, 2025.
