Human Resources Manager

(617) 780-0554

Sarah Candio is the Human Resources Manager with Family Voices. With more than a decade of experience with research and advocacy work in vulnerable communities, Sarah began her nonprofit career as a member of Partners In Health’s Right to Health Care program, where she provided administrative and logistical support for a transnational team of healthcare advocates, and direct accompaniment for families accessing complex care and critical social supports. She has since enjoyed more involved experience in nonprofit management, and found a home for herself in Human Resources, providing back of the house support to the incredible family leaders and advocates of Family Voices.

Sarah holds a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School, where she focused on existential anthropology and got real with the challenges of her own privilege in an increasingly globalized world as an ally joining conversations about ‘whose human rights’ and ‘what is at stake for vulnerable populations in critical human rights movements. A champion of culturally competent sustainable engagement, social justice, and antiracism; Sarah is fluent in Haitian Creole, is a notary and a Department of Justice certified non-attorney immigration advocate, and is the mother of four rowdy children.

In both her professional and personal life, Sarah is a committed advocate for families struggling in the face of the incredible barriers dictated by race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, diagnosis, or immigration status. She is a flexible team player, who is passionate about providing critical support to dynamic teams, and a problem solver, capable of executing complex logistics and adept in the creation and revision of systems and policies that respond to organizational needs.
