From Me to We Family Leadership Development Academy is part of the work of Family Engagement and Leadership in Systems of Care (FELSC). The academy is led by Family Voices. 

 

You’re an expert at navigating the healthcare system and community organizations on behalf of your child or family member with a disability or special health care need. Do you want to build skills to take your impact as a family leader to the next level?  

Join Family Voices for From “Me” to “We,” a year-long online leadership development program designed to help family leaders develop systems-level leadership skills and pave a path to a career in family leadership.

What You’ll Learn 

Through 12 interactive online sessions, you’ll learn: 

  • How to share your story in ways that inspire change 
  • Best practices for working with healthcare providers, organizations, and community partners 
  • How your lived experience can shape decision making 
  • How to turn your lived experience into leadership and career opportunities 
  • Ways to build a professional presence and grow as a family leader 
  • The value of mentorship and how to find support throughout your leadership journey 

Program Highlights 

  • Fall 2026 to Summer 2027 
  • 12 monthly 60 to 90-minute online sessions 
  • Approximately one hour of pre-work per session 
  • Opportunities to apply what you learn through hands-on activities  
  • A supportive community where participants learn from one another 
  • A capstone presentation to showcase your leadership

  • Tools to help improve programs, services, and systems for families
