Board Member
Rosalba Calleros recently joined the Special Education Department of Austin Independent School District as the Transition and Employment Designee and Transition Coordinator, where she supports students with disabilities and their families as they navigate the path from school to adult life.
Rosalba brings more than 18 years of experience in parent-led nonprofit organizations serving families of children with disabilities across Texas. In 2007, she began her career as a Parent Educator with the Children’s Disabilities Information Coalition in El Paso, providing families with guidance on special education and advocacy. In 2009, she joined Texas Parent to Parent, first as a Bilingual Family Support Team Member, later becoming Family Support Coordinator in 2014, and ultimately serving as Executive Director. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with Family Voices on multiple initiatives.
In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Rosalba has been deeply involved in policy and systems change through her service on statewide advisory bodies, including the STAR Kids Managed Care Advisory Committee and the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Advisory Committee, where she was appointed in 2024 and continues to serve.
Rosalba holds a Master’s degree in Bilingual Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, along with a double Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from the same institution.
Rosalba and her husband, Raul, are parents to two children. Their oldest son, born in 1999, introduced them to the world of disability, shaping Rosalba’s life and professional mission. They also have a neurotypical daughter. Her lived experience as a parent has shown her the powerful impact of family-to-family support, inspiring her to serve and advocate for families since 2007.
Rosalba’s mission is to empower parents and caregivers so they can support their children in reaching their fullest potential and living meaningful, self-directed lives.
