Board Member

Janis Connallon has been a leader in children’s health policy advocacy for over 25 years. She has experience organizing families of children with special health care needs, including with Family Voices National in Washington, DC. For nearly a decade, she served as the Children’s Defense Fund Health Policy Advocate in California. Additionally, she worked in public health advocacy at the Carter Center, Johns Hopkins University, and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.

She participated in several successful legislative campaigns, including the establishment of the Medicaid and CHIP Access Commission (MACPAC) and the Family Opportunity Act of 2005. In California, she contributed to the Health Care for All Children Campaign and co-led the effort to restore Healthy Start, now known as Community Schools, with United Ways of California. Janis lives in Berkeley with her husband, Rob, and two daughters, one with neurodevelopmental challenges and one with complex orthopedic needs.
