More About the National Center for Family / Professional Partnerships (NCFPP)

GOALS

The National Center for Family / Professional Partnerships has three goals:

  1. To increase leadership capacity and promote family-centered care through the expansion and implementation of Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) and communities of learners;
  2. To promote knowledge about and opportunities for family/youth/professional partnerships in health care policies and practices; and
  3. To contribute to the understanding and measurement of family-centered, culturally competent care, family/professional partnerships and other outcomes.

ACTIVITIES

Family Voices Guide to Technical Assistance

Family Voices undertakes a variety of activities to accomplish the goals of the NCFPP:

  • Providing technical assistance and training to staff at Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs),
  • Providing mechanisms and linkages for F2F HICs around the country to learn and support one another.
  • Developing materials and other resources for families, family leaders, and professionals about such topics as developing parent and youth leadership, building partnerships, cultural diversity, etc.
  • Partnering with organizations and agencies to promote, solicit, and facilitate opportunities for family / professional partnerships.
  • Providing tools and guidance to family leaders in building an evidence base for family-centered care and by working with them to compile such information into a national perspective.
  • Promoting specific activities to develop youth leadership.

    A presentation that outlines the principles and components of family partnerships.


  6. Partnerships between Families and Professionals: Looking Back and Looking Forward – (ppt)
    A presentation that reviews the history of family / professional partnerships and provides examples of partnership activity and the perspective of those involved.


  7. Definition and Principles of Family-Centered Care (rtf)
    A 3-page handout from MCHB that defines family-centered care, outlines the principles of family-centered care, and includes the role of cultural competency in family-centered care.
